Who is responsible

What this site collects

The question you type into the chat, and the questions and answers earlier in the same conversation, are sent to our server so the page can be composed. That is the only information you provide, and you provide it deliberately by typing it.

The site does not ask for, and has no field for, your name, email address, telephone number, postal address, date of birth, or payment details. It has no accounts and no sign-in.

We do not collect analytics. There is no advertising, no tracking pixel, no fingerprinting, no session recording, and no third-party analytics service on this site.

• Your typed question, and the prior turns of the same conversation.
• A theme preference — whether you chose the light or dark appearance.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no cookies.

It stores one value in your browser's local storage, under the key jcl-theme, recording whether you chose the light or dark appearance. It never leaves your browser, it is not an identifier, and it is not readable by us. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

How your question is used

Your question is used to compose the page you see, and for nothing else. It is not used to build a profile, it is not used for advertising, it is not used to train any model, and it is not sold, rented, or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Who else receives it

Two providers process your question on our behalf in the course of answering it. Both are bound to protect it to the standard set out in this policy.

• Hugging Face, Inc. — runs the language model that composes the page. Your question and the earlier turns of the conversation are sent to its Inference Providers API each time you ask something. Hugging Face does not receive any other information about you from us.
• Netlify, Inc. — hosts this site and runs the function that serves it. As with any web host, its infrastructure processes the network request that carries your question.

Nobody else. The company address in the footer links to Google Maps, which is an ordinary link and not an embedded map: nothing is sent to Google unless you choose to follow it, we send no referring information when you do, and whatever happens after that is between you and Google under its own policy.

What is kept, and for how long

In the ordinary case, nothing is kept. A question is sent, a page is composed, and the question is not written to any store.

There is one exception. When a question produces no answer — because the subject is outside what this site publishes — the text of that question is recorded, so that we can see what visitors expected to find and improve the site. The record contains the question, the time, and the reason it could not be answered. It contains nothing that identifies you: no name, no IP address, no cookie, no device identifier, and no way to connect one question to another or to a person.

Those records are kept until they have been reviewed and acted on, and are deleted once they are no longer useful for that purpose. Because they are not linked to any identifier, they cannot be traced back to the person who typed them.

Your choices and your rights

You can use this site without typing anything: the landing page, and the contact details on it, are readable without asking a question.

Because nothing stored is linked to you, we generally cannot locate records that relate to a particular person — there is no identifier to search on. If you believe a question you typed was recorded and you want it removed, write to us with enough detail to find it and we will delete it.

This site is a business website intended for a professional audience. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If the way this site handles information changes, this page changes with it, and the date below is updated. The site does not have accounts, so there is no one to notify directly; the current version is always the one published here.
